The Galila Arts Festival in Pangasinan’s fourth district is a celebration of Filipino creativity, music, and community. With the theme “Locally Led, Community Crafted,” this year’s festival transforms public spaces into artistic venues, showcasing not only the region's cultural heritage but also its modern artistic expressions.
One of the highlights of the festival is “Himig Himbing: Mga Heleng Atin”, a project from the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) that reintroduces the country's indigenous lullabies. These lullabies, from various dialects like Pangasinense, Ilokano, and Cebuano, remind us of the heartfelt melodies passed down through generations, brought to life by ethnomusicologist Sol Trinidad and Krina Cayabyab’s musical arrangement.
