The Pulse: Incredible Sighting of an Adult Philippine Eagle Near Mt. Apo!

COTABATO CITY - An adult Philippine Eagle, one of the world’s most critically endangered species, was recently spotted near the foot of Mt. Apo in North Cotabato!

A Rare Sight: The Majestic Philippine Eagle

The Philippine Eagle (Pithecophaga jefferyi) is a symbol of the country’s rich biodiversity. This magnificent bird, often referred to as the "King of the Skies," was spotted perched on a Lauan tree in Barangay Salab, Magpet, by a team from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). The location, near the iconic Mt. Apo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, serves as a crucial habitat for these eagles.

With only an estimated 392 pairs remaining in the wild, each sighting of the Philippine Eagle offers renewed hope for conservation efforts. The eagle’s presence highlights the importance of preserving the natural environments surrounding Mt. Apo and other critical habitats across the Philippines.
